Elise ’t Hart is a sound artist and founder of the “Instituut voor Huisgeluid”, or “institute for household sounds”. Elise uses sound to tell her stories and tells stories about sounds. She is fascinated by the world of sound, how we exist in that world and how we experience it: “As westerners, we are so focused on the visual aspect of life (seeing is believing) that we almost forget how close hearing is to feeling. Sound, after all, is a wave, which can sometimes literally be felt.” Elise uses installations, podcasts, workshops, compositions and presentations to raise awareness of everyday sounds, resulting in a fuller experience of our surroundings.
