Kathrin Schlegel’s work covers a broad range of media and formats, from subtle interventions and audiovisual and archive projects to room-spanning installations and monumental sculptures for the public space: the location and context of the presentation are essential to her practice. Schlegel creates her work as part of a dialogue with its surroundings, exposing (forgotten) layers of meaning. Many of her works are transhistorical – and some transcultural – in nature.
