Ine Vermee

My work requires concentration. Accept, and you’ll see the world with renewed intensity. I consider the development of my work to be a performative exercise. The act of looking and reflecting is as essential as creating.

Over the past two decades, I’ve mostly worked in white, since I associate it with a wealth of visual experiences. White takes in any and all other colours and reflects them back. You could say I’ve traded use of colour for variation in lighting. My quest centres around techniques and materials that have different effects on light, colour and shadow. Artists from the Zero movement and minimalism are an unfailing source of inspiration.
