The music album Wild Wet World, released in 2023, is a tribute to the ocean and all the life in it. For ten years, Cosmo Sheldrake collected sound recordings of singing humpback whales, the clicking of sperm whales, the snapping of parrotfish and the gentle sputtering of coral reefs. It also features rare fragments of the voices of Britain’s last orcas, a population with its own dialect that is slowly dying out as polluted waters make their reproduction impossible. Since the music is composed of these voices, the musician thought it natural to include these animals as co-authors of the songs as well.
